Giving Hope & Assurance

Second Chance for Life Foundation seeks to provide new hope through second opinions for individuals living in McDowell County, North Carolina.  To  assist financially by supporting for families with the cost of food, travel and lodging during their time seeking a second opinion. A second opinion is critical to someone diagnosed with cancer, because it provides clarity and reassurance. This will give a cancer patient the confidence they need in their treatment plan to move forward in medical decision making.

    • Must be a resident of McDowell County for at least one year.

    • First priority is for people who are wanting a second opinion.

    • 250% of poverty level to qualify/church discretion.

    Second opinion at the N.C. Basnight Cancer Hospital or one of the following:

    • UNC Cancer Care

    • UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center

    • UNC Children’s Hospital

    • Women’s Hospital

    • UNC Clinical Trial Unit

    • The comprehensive cancer support program (if you are a patient)

    • Someone with Grace Community Church / Second Chance for Life will be in touch with you soon! Funding assistance is granted given requirements are met.

  • Gas for transportation, valet parking, lodging assistance, and food.

    With additional funds:

    • Assistance for any cancer care where ever.

    • wigs and scarves for women.

    • additional reasons may be approved by Grace Community Church for cancer care. (example: Food, Unexpected Expenses, medical, etc.).
